Our appreciation for the natural beauty of flowers began with our mother, Bennie Louise Walden Austin, and her fresh cut arrangements on the kitchen counter. In establishing our own homes we did the same, growing chrysanthemums and zinnias and hydrangeas in our yards, and creating lovely arrangements for everyday pleasure. Then, after raising children and retiring from jobs, our love for flowers grew into opportunities to design and create arrangements for others.
We discovered our passion, and developed our gifts and talents for all range of occasions, from formal church weddings and receptions to outdoor weddings and picnics; high school prom corsages, baccalaureate receptions and home graduation parties; eagle scout receptions, lady's teas, breast cancer fundraisers, and birthday parties.
We also began learning formal techniques of floral design, thanks to Laura Irocci, our mentor at Faith Flowers, including a Flower Arrangers Tour to Belgium and the Netherlands where we practiced European flower arranging.
